West Ham have a lot of work to do this summer and it seems another task has been added to their list of business to complete.
The Hammers have seen Player of the Year Marko Arnautovic emerge as a shock target for Manchester United, following his 11-goal campaign at the London Stadium.
Austria international Arnautovic impressed following a club-record move from Stoke City last summer and his performances seem to have courted the attention of Jose Mourinho.
Arnautovic was reported to have been scouted by Mourinho during his national side’s midweek victory over World Cup hosts Russia and fans may not like his response.
Quoted by Austrian newspaper Kurier, the 29-year-old said:
“It is a great honour for our entire team that a coach like Mourinho is watching us.”
West Ham are desperate not to sell Arnautovic, particularly after their problems following the loss of Dimitri Payet to Marseille 18 months ago, and will hope that their star-man doesn’t have his head turned in the coming months.
