West Ham’s spell under Manuel Pellegrini did not get off to the best of starts last weekend, as a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool left the Hammers rooted to the bottom of the league standings.

It is still very early days though and the club will be looking to quickly get back to form in the coming weeks, although their issues in the final third have been well documented.

Andy Carroll’s latest injury setback has left just Javier Hernandez as the only senior recognised striker in the squad, although both Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez can fill that role if required.

That lack of depth could prove to be an issue as the season progresses but Claret & Hugh have revealed a positive update on Carroll’s injury, stating the England international will be available before Christmas.

Carroll will need to hit the ground running upon his return to force his way into Pellegrini’s plans at the London Stadium or he might find himself offloaded in January.
