Sam Allardyce has recalled the time he was sent to scout Manchester United manager David Moyes during the Scot’s playing days at┬áDunfermline.

Allardyce was at Preston North End at the time and was asked by manager John Beck to go and take a look at defender Moyes, but left the game having only seen 30 minutes of his target following Moyes’ red card in the first-half.

But Allardyce’s scouting report suggest Preston should sign him and that’s exactly what PNE did.

Now the two go head-to-head at Upton Park on Saturday as Moyes’ struggling United travel to East London hoping to get their season back on track, although they’ll have to negotiate a way past a pretty sturdy and on-form Hammers defensive line.
