Sam Allardyce has recalled the time he was sent to scout Manchester United manager David Moyes during the Scot’s playing days at Dunfermline.

Allardyce was at Preston North End at the time and was asked by manager John Beck to go and take a look at defender Moyes, but left the game having only seen 30 minutes of his target following Moyes’ red card in the first-half.

But Allardyce’s scouting report suggest Preston should sign him and that’s exactly what PNE did.

Now the two go head-to-head at Upton Park on Saturday as Moyes’ struggling United travel to East London hoping to get their season back on track, although they’ll have to negotiate a way past a pretty sturdy and on-form Hammers defensive line.
