A mental two days at West Ham, more ‘top’ signings to come

The last few days at the club have been pretty mental to say the least.

The club finally appointing a manager, signing a player, being linked with the world his wife, David Gold making a complete bean of himself on Twitter… have I missed anything?

It was just 48 hours ago when we were all wondering when our summer would kick off. Our season begins on July 2nd so it’s no wonder some fans were beginning to panic when we had no manager and a depleted squad.

But fear not! It all looks much better now, and today brought a whole load of headline news for us to enjoy (and cringe at).

So sit back and get yourself up to speed with today’s West Ham gossip…

Welcome, Pedro…

After month’s of speculation we finally managed to sign Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang.

It was pretty much the worst kept secret in football but the club officially unveiled him today, which pretty much ends any chance of us signing Alex Song on a permanent deal. Bothered.

Obiang will undoubtedly line up alongside Cheikhou Kouyate in a defensive midfield role, with Bilic renowed for preferring a 4-2-3-1 formation.

But you knew all that, so let’s move on…

Wrong guy, Dave…

David Gold is the gift that keeps on giving.

A couple of hours after Obiang’s arrival made official by the club, good ol’ Dave took to Twitter to welcome the midfielder himself.

Trouble is, he posted a picture of Angelo Ogbonna instead!

We have been linked with the Italian, so some saw it as a sign that he’s next on our transfer hit list.

But it definitely adds to the list the 234579 other David Gold Twitter gaffes.

Never change, David. Never. Change.

Strikers…

We all expected the transfer rumours to pick up once we’d named a new manager.

But no one really expected the kind of players we’ve been linked with.

Reports tonight claim we’ve been handed permission by Chelsea to discuss personal terms with striker Loic Remy (yep, the same Loic Remy to have rejected us twice in the past), while we’re also thought to be preparing a £7million bid for Galatasaray forward Burak Yilmaz, who we were linked with last summer.

But if two strikers weren’t enough, we’ve also been linked with the following: Duvan Zapata (again!), Jordon Rhodes (again!), Claudio Beauvue and Javier Hernandez.

Where’s Andre Ayew? He’s just signed for Swansea after we refused to pay him £100k-a-week. Bothered.

Who needs defenders anyway?

Cabaye? You mean, THE Cabaye?

Yep. ‘THE’ Cabaye.

One of the most mental transfer rumours of summer so far is Yohan Cabaye to Crystal Palace. He’s admitted he wants to player under Alan Pardew and, presumably, would settle for little ol’ Palace if that’s what it’s going to take to make it happen.

But… according to the ever-so-reliable @ExWHUemployee, we’ve been offered the chance sign him by PSG and are considering placing an offer.

Surely the pull of european football would have him pick east London over south, but who knows. Would be a fantastic signing either way, though.

The next one will make you smile…

Jenko’s coming home?

Apparently Bilic has okayed another loan move for Carl Jenkinson, with the club also keen on bringing him back to the Boleyn Ground.

I think we’re all in agreement with Jenko. He was superb for us last season and it’s great to see he’s being made a priority this summer.

There’s something so reassuring about having Jenko and Cresswell on either side of the defence. Let’s hope Arsenal cooperate and we can get another deal done.

Anyway, have a flick over for our final update of the evening…

Sorry, what?

If the ITKs all over Twitter weren’t annoying enough (there’s only a couple you can trust to bring you accurate information), the club’s brand new “Boleyn Insider” column on the official website has to be the final straw.

It has to be, quite honestly, the most ridiculous thing ever. There’s something going on in the club’s media department at the moment and it’s annoying us all.

ITK articles, “don’t go to bed” style tweets before a major announcements… whatever next?

Needless to say, the club has been absolutely nailed for it, both by the fans and the neutrals.

Christ, West Ham. When will you ever learn!?
