Home SIX reasons West Ham can finish in the top ten next season Another solid season defensively

Another solid season defensively

In order to achieve a higher finish in the league, West Ham will have to be solid in defence once more. A lot lies in the hands of a certain kiwi who is yet to pen a new contract. As soon as the Winston Reid situation is sorted, fans should be confident about the side’s defensive capabilities in the season ahead. Aaron Cresswell looks like a Premier League player and will provide bundles of energy down the left flank, he also has a very impressive fitness record so hopefully there will be no real concerns there. Young defender Danny Potts will also gain good experience by providing cover for Cresswell at left back. On the right, Jenkinson and Demel will provide healthy competition for each other whilst also adding strength in depth. There is also the added bonus of Kouyate, who can operate at centre back if a crisis develops at the heart of the defence. Joey O Brien will also provide sufficient cover across the full back positions and hopefully Adrien can provide more consistent performances to the level we know he’s capable of. Bring all these factors together and a top 10 finish does not look too impossible defensive-wise.
