West Ham United are looking to hand Lucas Perez as escape route from Arsenal this summer, following the Spaniard’s frustrating first season in English football.

Signed for £17m from Deportivo La Coruna last summer, Perez has impressed when given the chance, scoring nine goals in 21 appearances, but has consistently found himself out of the first-team.

Competition with the likes of Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud has not helped Perez, who is keen to earn further opportunities next season as he seeks to push himself into Spain’s squad for the 2018 World Cup.

That could play to West Ham’s advantage, with The Mirror stating the Hammers are eyeing a swoop to bring Perez across London this summer.

Capable of leading the line or playing in a wide position, Perez’ versatility could be a huge asset to the Hammers as they look to enjoy success following a disappointing debut season at the London Stadium.

Valued at £14.45m by TransferMarkt, Perez would be a solid addition to the Hammers’ ranks and his impressive scoring record of 17 goals in 36 La Liga appearances for Deportivo La Coruna suggests he could be a star in East London.
