For the first time this season we were able to see exactly what Sam Allardyce’s ‘Plan A’ was all about, and boy was it a relief to see it in full swing.

Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan really do have one of the best partnerships in football and it showed with Carroll assisting both of Nolan’s goals with towering headed knock-downs.

It was well deserved victory courtesy of a passionate performance from all the players involved, and one that could go down as our biggest and most important victory of the season.

Carroll’s red card left a bitter taste in the mouth afterwards, but the FA should see sense and rescind it, which will allow us to continue with Allardyce’s ‘Plan A’ and push on for more points in a month that sees us play teams we know we are capable of beating.
