Goals from Andy Carroll and Mo Diame gave the Hammers a 2-1 victory away to Sunderland to go 11 points clear of the Premier League’s drop zone and all but confirm top-flight survival.

It was another Sam Allardyce kind of performance but it was what was expected away from home against a side battling against relegation and desperate for points.

That said, the Hammers still performed well and deserved to take something away from the game, and all three points were very welcome indeed.

Following the 2-1 win over Hull last Wednesday that resulted in the Boleyn Ground crowd booing at the final whistle, the feeling amongst West Ham fans was a look more jovial this time around as Allardyce’s men all but ensured a third consecutive season in the Premier League.
