West Ham fell to a 3-1 defeat at Stoke City on Saturday afternoon, despite taking an early lead through Andy Carroll.
Carroll’s goal was West Ham’s 800th in the Premier League and looked to have set the Hammers on their way to a crucial victory towards Premier League safety.
But they struggled to build on the early lead and allowed the hosts to take all three points at the Britannia Stadium through goals from Marko Arnoutovic and Peter Odemwingie.
The result means Sam Allardyce’s side remain just six points clear of the bottom three with just nine games to play this season.
