Newcastle United could make a move for Adrian this summer if they fail to land their first choice target, according to The Sun.

Newcastle – who recently won promotion back to the Premier League – are keen to add another goalkeeper to their ranks this summer after using a number of options last season.

Topping their summer wishlist is Pepe Reina.

Rafa Benitez previously worked with his fellow countryman at Liverpool and wants to reunite with the Napoli goalkeeper.

However, Benitez has a contingency plan in case this move does not come to fruition.

If Newcastle fail to land Pepe Reina, he will move for West Ham’s Adrian.

Adrian lost his place in the Hammers’ starting line-up this year after a number of below-par performances but regained it later in the year after Darren Randolph made some high profile errors.

But West Ham have been linked with the likes of Jordan Pickford and Joe Hart, meaning that one or both of Adrian and Darren Randolph could be moved on.

Newcastle currently have a number of goalkeepers on their books.

Matz Sels started last season as the number one choice but he could be offloaded back to Belgium; Rob Elliot ended the season as the first choice stopper and Karl Darlow spent the middle part of last season as first choice.

The Magpies also have Tim Krul and Freddie Woodman returning from their respective loan spells but still want another goalkeeper.
