Our home defeat to Southampton earlier this season was the worst performance of the campaign so far.

It was a performance no different to those of last season that had us all calling for Allardyce’s head.

But since then, aside from a flew blips, we’ve been a far cry from that. In fact, our improvement this season has been compared with Southampton’s, although we’ve managed to slip off the pace somewhat recently.

Our draw last weekend against Man United was a good one in hindsight, and it shows just how far we’ve come since last season when we’re disappointed to have only drawn with the Premier League’s most successful team ever.

We’re still in with a chance of a top six finish, so tonight’s meeting with third placed Saints might just be the most important game of our season so far.

It certainly won’t be easy, but as long as Allardyce continues to stick with Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia as a strike partnership then we’ve got every chance of beating anyone.

So here’s how we could line up against Southampton today…
