So after yesterday’s disappointing loss at home to Leicester City, the need for at least two more summer signings is even more clear for all to see.

Enner Valencia’s injury appears to have left us extremely light up top, even with Mauro Zarate’s apparent second chance at the club under Slaven Bilic, while our midfield still feels a bit light of defensive minded players – we simply can’t rely on Reece Oxford to make that role his own at such a young age. Pedro Obiang did impress when he came on yesterday, though, but the general feeling is that we need someone else just in case.

But today young Jack Sullivan told fans on Twitter than the club hopes to sign at least a midfielder and a striker before the transfer shuts in two weeks time…

So who will these players be? It’s being heavily reported that we’re keeping tabs on Tom Huddlestone’s situation at Hull City, and Steve Bruce has even admitted that he’ll be powerless to keeping him at the club if someone does indeed meet his minimum release clause this summer.

And there’s still a lot of talk about Charlie Austin, who is impressing for QPR in the Championship already this season. A £15million price tag is what QPR are asking for and, if we’re being completely honest, that could turn out to be a snip if he can replicate his goalscoring form in the Premier League last season.

Both signings would prove to be good additions, no doubt. They’re experienced Premier League players who will help fill the void left by injuries and a bit of inexperience in the positions we’re currently looking to strengthen.

Other players we’ve been linked with include Javier Hernandez, though he looks almost certain to stay at Man United this summer, QPR duo Robert Green and Leroy Fer and Burak Yilmaz of Galatasaray.
