After weeks of speculation, West Ham are expected to announce the £7million capture of Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate today.

The 24-year-old Senegal international passed a medical yesterday and is believed to have penned a four-year deal at the club.

The club have been linked with the highly-rated defender for a number of weeks now and have had to fight off interest from La Liga outfit Valencia.

But the club appear to have got their man, with an official announcement expected this afternoon.

A source close to WestHamWorld said: It appears it is a done deal and an announcement is expected imminently.

Top club insider @ExWHUemployee also tweeted earlier: “My understanding is that he had a medical yesterday and it could be announced today.”

The capture appears to be something of a coup for the club, despite the not many knowing much about the defender. And if the club can tie down Winston Reid on an improved deal – despite him demanding a huge £75k-a-week – he looks like the perfect defensive duo ahead of next season’s Premier League campaign.
