From day one we’ve known how much of a powerhouse Cheikhou Kouyate is.
And he showed just how much of a machine in midfield he can be on Saturday when, with no subs available to to replace him, he played on with what was probably a torn thigh muscle (could be that, could be something else).
Most players would’ve thrown in the towel and bothered trying to continue for the sake of their team and for the final few minutes of the game, but Kouyate carried on and battles to the death.
But that has resulted in disastrous consequences. David Gold tweeted tonight that Kouyate will now be sidelined for around six weeks and may not return until the Villa game in November.
Luckily we’ve got strength in depth this year and we ‘should’ be ok without him, but his presence in midfield will no doubt be missed in some capacity…
Bad news. C.Kouyate will be out for 6 weeks.
He will probably miss 5 games and might be available for Aston Villa at home 8 nov. dg

Gutted, Kouyate is out for 6 weeks with a groin injury, hopefully Poyet gets a chance and Kevin "I don't move" Nolan doesn't walk back in
