Two successive losses – away to Everton and Stoke City – have brought the Hammers back down to earth following a run of four straight victories for the in which they conceded just once.

Despite those defeats, Sam Allardyce’s side are six points clear of the relegation zone but will need another nine points from their remaining nine games to reach the much-heralded 40 point mark. .

A 3-0 win over Olympiakos in midweek saw Manchester United progress to the last eight of the Champions League thanks to a 3-2 victory on aggregate that lifted the gloom somewhat around Old Trafford.

Robin van Persie’s hat-trick gave David Moyes some respite from the considerable pressure he has increasingly found himself under, but Van Persie looks like he will miss the game through injury and that leaves United lacking in the goal scoring department.

With this dodgy United defence and with Andy Carroll now up to match fitness we can be more than hopeful of a home win against a struggling Man United not to mention Kevin Nolan’s scoring streak at the moment.

Head-to-Head

United ran out comfortable 3-1 winners in the corresponding fixture earlier this season, with Adnan Januzaj, Danny Welbeck and Ashely Young assuring the home side of all three points before Carlton Cole struck a late consolation.

United are unbeaten in the Premier League at Upton Park since 2007 and each of the past five games between these clubs in London has featured at least four goals.

First & Last Goal scorer

This week we are torn between Andy Carroll at 8/1 and Kevin Nolan at 13/2. With time running out for Andy Carroll to make the England squad for the World Cup, he will have to start scoring soon with only nine games left in the season. Mo Diame at 14/1 is also worth consideration. Andy Carroll to score anytime at 2/1 is also a good shout for any multiple bets.

Scorecast

This week we are going for a longshot on a scorecast and there are some tasty prices out there. Kevin Nolan and 1-0 is 50/1, Andy Carroll and 1-0 60/1 is very tempting.

Recommended Bets

This weeks recommended bets are…

  • Andy Carroll First or Last Goal scorer 8/1
  • Score cast Andy Carroll first Goal and 1-0 60/1
  • And for the multiple bets Andy Carroll anytime score 2/1
