Looks like we’ve been handed a transfer boost today as Hamburg confirmed they won’t be loaning Barcelona wonderkid Alen Halilovic, as reported by Inside Futbol.

It was looking increasingly likely that we would lose out on bringing the young Croat to the Boleyn Ground after it emerged Bundesliga side Hamburg had also entered the race for his signature.

But a statement from Hamburg confirmed: “We have reached a decision on Alen Halilovic from FC Barcelona and he will not be loaned.

“We cannot guarantee him enough playing time.”

Halilovic has previously been labelled as ‘the next Luka Modric’ and Barcelona are keen to loan him out in search of regular first team football.

So now that Hamburg have ruled themselves out of the race, will Slaven Bilic reignite his interest in his compatriot?

The 19-year-old made his first team debut for the Catalan giants in a Copa del Rey match in January this year.

Can you imagine Halilovic, Payet, Sakho & co. running riot in the Premier League?
